During the summer months, the villages on the east end of Long Island have a prominent surf culture. The popularity of surfing is exploding in the Hamptons and home to many renowned surf instructors so you can learn from the best.
If you love the water, there’s no better place than the Hamptons to find a water sport and adventure that suits your passions. Located a mere 90 minutes from New York City, this popular enclave feels like it’s in another universe with its dunes, beautiful beaches, sleepy rural simplicity and luxury resort vibe.
Charter your own private yacht for an excursion to Sunset Harbor, Navy Beach or Duryea’s and experience the true joy that comes in the convenience of docking and immediately having access to countless activities or just having lunch on board. Take a lesson from local surfing pros, paddle board with friends at sunrise, or enjoy a private fishing charter for striped bass off the coast of Montauk.
The Hamptons is also famous for its ocean-to-table dining. Enjoy local seafood in the timeless port town of Sag Harbor and pair with Long Island wines such as Wölffer Estate, turning meals into a memorable summer event.
Every year, around this time, I get insanely restless. I should be feeling blissed out from two
months of sun-kissed waterplay…boat days, seaside festivals, and early morning swims...sipping heady cocktails and devouring Oysterponds Shellfish Co. oysters with friends. But all I can think is, “What more can I jam into the last breath of summer?” Of course, after parties are the Hamptons’ best kept secret, aren’t they? And what is early fall if not summer’s after party? At AFLOAT USA, we’re not letting a second of these glowing, golden days get away from us.
In this Summer/Fall issue we’re diving deep into the trendiest “smart tech” water toys with the Yacht Group's wireless Wi-Fi controller, Fliteboard's new eFoil Flitescooter, and more.
Thanks to enthusiastic requests from readers, our editorial team had a blast researching superyacht toys and accessories—from squeal-inducing inflatables to personal submersibles.
If you do one more thing before the summer is out, check out an electric-powered water toy, like the Taiga Motor electric jet ski or the new electric SUP from Sipaboard. I tried both, and was blown away by their smooth, whisper quiet ride.
As fall sets in, the AFLOAT USA team will be taking full advantage of the earth-loving Loaves & Fishes takeaway program so we have time to put the final touches on our NEW South Florida edition!
As always, a heartfelt thanks to all of our partners, advertisers, and friends in the waterfront and boating communities. We couldn’t do AFLOAT USA without you. Now get out there and play!
