Almost everywhere you turn when you’re in the Hamptons there’s a beach. Head north and the road could leave you on a quiet stretch of sand on Peconic Bay. Turn south and you will most definitely end up looking out over the surf of the Atlantic. There is also a beach for every taste, waves made for some of the best surfing in the world, sand perfect for building castles, and the ability to witness seals, whales, dolphins, and other wildlife.
For the dog owner, Hamptons beaches are very dog friendly. With the exception of the village of Southampton and the bay beaches of the Town of East Hampton, there are time restrictions during the summer season (and every village and town defines the summer season differently), but if you enjoy visiting the Hamptons when the summer crowds have gone, your pet can have the run of the beach, all day long.
Across the board, during the beach season, you need to get a beach parking permit or you’ll be ticketed. Some areas sell non-resident beach passes at the beginning of the season (they are limited in number so you’ll want to check with the particular village/town government website before visiting). There are also some beaches with daily paid parking available but they fill up fast so plan on rising early.
